This business is about providing you with art and design. I think as an artist and that’s what makes my designs unique. My company, AK Donahue Design, began as an experiment to provide custom art as an interior design element. I started out by simply hand painting borders and other architectural details. It wasn’t long before I was painting huge murals and scenes with extensive detail.
The business was expanded to include all of the services that an interior design firm offers: drafting and architectural design, color selection, sourcing fabric and flooring, selecting furniture and accessories, lighting design and referring and supervising subcontractors. Whether redesigning your kitchen or bathroom, building a new addition for a new den or home office, decorating a multi-family residence, or seeking to enhance the sales floor for your business, I will ensure your needs are completely met.
My job is to enhance the space where you work and play, provide a relaxed atmosphere at home, increase the value of your real estate, boost the productivity of your office workers, and impel clients to engage your services.

Custom Murals
Custom artwork is the heart of AK Donahue Design. Having earned a dual degree in Communications Art and Art, I have been working over 20 years combining my artistry and creative design talents. Murals can work with faux finishes or stand alone as grand scale artwork. Consultant Services
The first step is to meet with you to discuss your needs. The initial consultation consists of an interview to determine your preferences and budget. A site survey is taken, noting existing furniture, lighting and accessories, and identifying any potential design problems as well as the positive attributes of the space. Preliminary drawings are assembled and presented with specific color charts, detailing a proposal that outlines a progressive plan for the project. This may include research time for historic renovation or other construction plans. I will oversee installation, ensuring timely completion and complete customer satisfaction.
Project Management
With 20 years of experience in the interior design industry, I am qualified to oversee projects of varying complexities. Drawings may be submitted for architectural review and approval by a building codes inspector. I will work closely with your architect or engineer should any structural work be necessary. All deliveries and installations are scheduled and supervised and only experienced and licensed contractors are used.
Residential Design
Your home décor is in good hands with AK Donahue Design. Family rooms, living rooms, formal dining rooms, even home theaters can have special ambiance and be a reflection of your family's taste and character. Access to the latest fabrics and furnishings are available directly through AK Donahue Design. Once the plans are drawn and approved, everything you need to complete the interior is provided. A wide selection of home furnishings and lighting accessories, as well as fabrics, window treatments, and paint selections are available to you. I will personally oversee the installation of all design elements and work closely with other sub-contractors on your building project. Are you performing restorative work on a classic home? Commercial Design
AK Donahue Design offers more than interior decorating! I works with business owners to design aesthetic and functional interiors across a variety of institutions and industries. My focus is on creative design, usability and ergonomics. I have a broad understanding of materials, scheduling, ordering, and working within budgets and also knows how to adhere to the constraints of electrical capacities, safety and building codes.
Although you hire me for creativity, I recognize that your taste and personal vision comes first. Throughout the building process, I personally review and evaluate the implementation of the design plan and, upon completion, schedule follow-up visits to the site to ensure satisfaction with the final product.
